What's Happening at West Boynton and Canyon Libraries This September

Both the West Boynton Branch (9451 Jog Road) and the newer Canyon Branch (8915 Senator Joseph Abruzzo Lane) are offering a full slate of free programs this September for kids, teens, and adults.

At the Canyon Branch, families with young children can catch Countdown to Kindergarten on Sept. 4, a stories-and-stations program to help preschoolers ages 3-5 get ready for the classroom, along with weekly storytimes for toddlers. Kids and tweens have several gaming options, including Tween D&D: Humblewood, Pokemon Club, and Chess Club, plus a puzzle-filled Crazy Librarian's Office escape room for ages 8-13. Teens can get involved through the Canyon Teen Advisory Board or volunteer opportunities helping curate the teen room's book displays.

Adults have a strong lineup too. Coloring for Relaxation and a Makerspace Craft Lab for paper crafters offer low-key creative sessions, while Excel Basics and Intermediate Microsoft Excel classes cover computer skills. Language learners can join English Exchange or the new Spanish Exchange for Beginners. Notably, Understanding Medicare Enrollment on Sept. 9 walks attendees through Medicare Open Enrollment with help from a SHINE counselor, and a County Library & Parks Capital Plan Town Hall on Sept. 8 gives residents a chance to learn about upcoming renovation and construction plans and ask questions about funding.

Over at the West Boynton Branch, regular programming includes Bilingual Storytime, Blanket Time and TINY Tot Time for babies and toddlers, and a rotating slate of family and teen events throughout the month.

Both branches offer free Wi-Fi, computer access, and printing/scanning services, and most programs require advance registration through the library system's website.
