Trader Joe's Confirmed for Boynton Beach, Opening Likely in 2027
City records confirm the specialty grocer is moving into Oakwood Square on Congress Avenue and Boynton Beach Blvd.
Boynton Beach is getting a Trader Joe's. A building permit submitted to the city in June points to a 36,000-square-foot location at Oakwood Square, 334 N. Congress Ave., taking over the space once occupied by Stein Mart.
The filing came just days after Trader Joe's opened its first Palm Beach County location in West Palm Beach on June 12, an opening that drew crowds and long lines, with staff greeting shoppers in the chain's trademark Hawaiian shirts. Because the Boynton Beach site is an existing building rather than new construction, the timeline runs longer — a 2027 opening is expected.
Built in 1986, Oakwood Square sits just north of Boynton Beach Boulevard, directly across Congress Avenue from the Boynton Beach Mall. Once it opens, the store will become the sixth Trader Joe's in Palm Beach County, adding to existing locations in Boca Raton, Delray Beach, Wellington, Palm Beach Gardens, and the recently opened West Palm Beach store.
For west Boynton and west Lake Worth neighbors, that puts a Trader Joe's noticeably closer to home than the current nearest options.
