Manatee Elementary Adds New In-House STEM Program
Manatee joins a short list of Palm Beach County elementary schools offering Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math as an in-house program, according to the district's newly updated choice program listings.
Manatee Elementary is now offering a Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math (STEM) in-house program, according to the School District of Palm Beach County's latest in-house programs listing, which flags the addition as new for the 2026-27 school year.
Unlike Choice programs, which are open to students countywide through a lottery, in-house programs are only available to students who live within a school's regular attendance boundary. That means the new STEM offering will be built into the standard curriculum for Manatee's zoned students rather than requiring a separate application or commute from outside the area.
Manatee joins Meadow Park Elementary as the only two schools in the district currently listed with an in-house STEM program, distinct from the STEAM (STEM plus Arts) programs offered at schools like Loxahatchee Groves and New Horizons elementaries.
The district hasn't published additional detail yet on what the STEM designation will include day-to-day, whether that's dedicated STEM class periods, new lab equipment, teacher training, or curriculum partnerships.
