Beef Recall Hits Florida Shelves — Here's Where to Buy Local Instead
A nearly 30,000-pound recall of imported Argentine beef gives Palm Beach County shoppers one more reason to source their next steak from a Florida ranch.

The USDA recalled nearly 30,000 pounds of raw beef on Aug. 7 after Aventura-based Corte Argentino USA LLC found the imported Argentine beef had skipped required import reinspection. The recall, classified as a Class I health hazard, covers several boneless cuts distributed to Texas and Florida retailers with use-or-freeze-by dates between Sept. 15–20, 2026. No illnesses have been reported, but affected products should be tossed or returned to the place of purchase.
The recall lands amid an already difficult stretch for beef shoppers. The U.S. cattle herd has shrunk to its smallest size in 75 years, driven by years of drought that forced ranchers to sell off breeding cows early, pushing retail Choice beef from about $8.51 a pound in 2024 to $10.49 a pound in July 2026. Experts don't expect real price relief until 2028 or later.
For shoppers looking to buy closer to home, several Florida producers sell pasture-raised beef direct to consumers:
Firefly Farm — A family farm offering pasture-raised poultry, pork, eggs, and other meats, with local pickup and delivery options.
Trinity Ranch Beef — Okeechobee-based ranch raising Brangus and Wagyu-cross cattle, pasture-raised and grain-finished with no hormones or antibiotics, offering free front-door delivery statewide.
Red Beard Ranch — A family-run ranch in Lakeport offering pasture-raised beef, steaks, and provisions, with regular delivery routes to Palm Beach and Broward counties.
Local's Best Cuts — Southwest Ranches farm stand and online shop offering grass-fed, grass-finished beef, heritage pork, and free-range chicken, with a daily farm stand open Wed.–Sat.
